How it works

Three steps, from the top of the engine

Run the engine about five minutes first. Warm oil climbs the tube far faster than cold oil — this is the one step people skip.

Step 1 — Feed the tube in

Slide the flexible tube down the dipstick channel until it touches the bottom of the pan. Two diameters are in the box, so it fits what you own.

Step 2 — Pump 4 to 6 times

That builds the vacuum, and the vacuum does the work from there. The oil climbs the tube on its own and collects in the sealed chamber.

Does it really pull all the oil out?

With the tube fed to the bottom of a warm pan, extraction pulls out a volume comparable to a drain-plug change. It is not a workaround: several European manufacturers, BMW and Mercedes among them, service their engines by extraction at the dealership. Run the engine about five minutes first so the oil is thin enough to climb.

Will the tube fit my dipstick opening?

Both diameters are in the box. The thin tube fits effectively every passenger car dipstick channel; the wide tube moves oil faster on trucks, boats and equipment with larger openings.

How long does a full change take?

About ten minutes of pumping and waiting on a typical 4–5 quart passenger car with warm oil. The XL chamber holds 2 liters, so you empty it into your recycling jug two or three times during the job. Larger trucks take a few minutes longer.

Which size do I need?

For car and truck oil changes, take the XL — the 2-liter chamber clears a full pan in two or three fills. The 500cc Starter is the precision tool for brake fluid, power steering, motorcycles, mowers and top-ups. The Garage Kit covers both jobs, which is why most people end up on it or the XL.

Is it messy to empty?

The chamber seals and the spout does not drip. Pour straight into a recycling jug and drop it at any auto parts store — most take used oil at no charge.

Brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering, coolant, and any small engine: boats, motorcycles, ATVs, mowers, generators. It transfers in both directions, so it fills reservoirs as well as it empties them.
